Late Night Heart Transplant Saves CBR400 - 23/5/06

A late night operation on Saturday 20th of May 2006, saved Lisa's CBR400. The CBR400 dropped a valve in cylinder #3 during race 2 of Round 2 of the Hartwell Club Championships held at Broadford. As Lisa made her way along the back straight the engine gave way leaving a trail of smoke as Lisa promptly left the circuit. "All of a sudden the engine note changed so I knew something had gone wrong..once I had got the bike off the track I looked around and saw a huge cloud of smoke." She later revealed.

The New Donk

Luckily there was a freshly rebuilt spare engine back at SD headquarters. Ian and Daz packed the tools and headed home to perform the emergency operation in hope to get Lisa back out on track for Sunday's championship races.

It was touch and go at times with a few bolts and parts proving difficult to remove but the pair rallied together and got the job done with time to spare. After 4 hours of delicate work Daz pressed the starter button and the pair was delighted to hear the new donk turn over for the very first time.

Lisa made the whole effort worth while taking 1 st in the Formula 400 Novice class and 5 th overall. She was delighted and would like to thank the boys for their work and especially Ian for having a late night even though he had to ride himself the next day.
