After a short break SD Racing's 2006 season will resume this weekend at penultimate round of the Australian Superbike Championship. The 6 th round of the national series at Victoria 's Winton Raceway sees Daz in action and kicks off a busy period for the team with 4 meetings in just 5 weeks. To date the team has been happy with the results that we have been able to achieve in our first full season of racing and hope to cap it off with a strong finish. Already having won our first ever title, the Victorian C Grade Formula 400 with Lisa Brothers , we are in a position to grab another two and hope to get the job done.
Again Lisa is in the hunt for another title, the Hartwell Club Formula 400 Novice Championship, where she currently holds a 17point lead over Duane Wans (who will be coming back from injury) with one round to go. Even with the healthy points lead Lisa will still need to keep her cool and break her run of 3 crashes from 3 meetings, all the while pushing hard to ensure that she finishes well inside the points.
The other title we hope to secure is the Interclub 600 Supersport title with our pommy connection, Ian Wiltshire . Ian also takes a healthy points lead over Danny Higgins into the last round of the Interclub series at Broadford, the scene of his first win on Aussie soil. Ian also contests the Hartwell 600 Expert Championship that has already been wrapped up by Dennis Charlotte but Ian will be looking to cement his current 3 rd position in the championship.
That leaves Darren 'Super Daz' Sciberras..well what can we say, not so 'Super' in the fact that he is the only team member not in the running for a championship win this year. But it is fair to say that Daz has had the steepest mountain to climb this year in the Australian Superstock Cup, especially considering his lack of experience heading into 2006. Daz has shown great improvement in all areas of his racing and finished in the top 3 in both the Victorian C Grade & Superstock Championships so it hasn't been all too bad. He is currently sitting in 9 th in the Australian Superstock series and focussed to cap off the last two rounds with strong front running performances.
It has been a great learning year both on and off the track for the Team with some strong results that we hope to expand over the next 5 weeks, wish us luck!
