A mere 18 days after a massive testing accident at Phillip Island, that had looked to put a serious halt towards our 2009 campaign, SD Racing's Darren Sciberras is set to take the grid this coming weekend. With our brand new race bike destroyed the outlook for 09 was looking seriously bleak, however thanks to Motologic things have quickly turned around. In fact the number 91 Honda CBR600RR only requires some finishing touches before completing the full rebuild and taking to the track in the Australian Supersport class at this weekend opening round of the World Superbike Championship at Phillip Island.
An excited Super Daz had the following comments: "I can not thank Motologic enough for their assistance with getting us going again. When I look at the bike almost ready to go I simply can't believe it and I am so excited that I get to have another go on the Honda so soon. For Motologic to lend us hand like this has been fantastic and we are extremely grateful. Having access to such a professional race team is just invaluable for privateers like us and it's great that Motologic do such a good job of looking after their customer bikes.
I also need to say a huge thanks to Megacycle Engineering, Russell Baker and Mark Backway of the North Melbourne Physiotherapy Clinic, for all their hard work and efforts in making this happen. I have just been so humbled by everyone's efforts and all the well wishers, it's been fantastic!"
The bike will be sporting a new Megacycle muffler this weekend and Megacycle Engineering's director Ken Onus had the following to say: "When I heard what happened I wanted to do everything I could to get Daz back out on the track. The way I see it, every time he goes out onto the track he has to put a helmet on. That not only means we don't have to stare at his head for 20 minutes or so but it also shuts him up! That's gotta be a good thing for motorcycle racing community as a whole so Megacycle is always glad to help get that helmet on his head!"
Even with very minimal testing time, carrying a few fractures in his left hand and the fact that Daz was as slow as a snail with a hangover last year, it's Lisa and Russ who probably face the toughest task of all..listening to Daz whinge and moan all weekend. "My hand hurts, can I have a foot rub, blah, blah, blah." At least they have those 20 minute breaks when Daz has his helmet on to look forward too.
Thanks again to all!! |
