| It was another good day for SD Racing with Ian Wiltshire, aboard his TW-Performance Honda CBR600RR, picking up the team's 5 th podium result of the year at Round 2 of the Victorian Interclub series at Winton. Our recent testing program had given us reason to believe that Ian would be up on the pace but it also highlighted areas where the bikes performance could have been better. Time was not on our side and we were unable to get the bike down to Shocktek to have the boys sort it out, so Ian was going to have to ride it knowing that there are some improvements to come. On the plus side Ian had one of the best pit crews know to mankind in his corner, so confidence was high and we were firmly focussed on a win.
We were unable to attend the previous day's practice at the circuit so Ian had minimal time to warm up and get into a groove with only a 4 lap practice session to kick off the days proceedings. One has to remember that Ian is the oldest and most experienced rider in the team so it can take him a little longer to get this blood pumping L .
Race 1
He got a ripper start from 7 th on the grid and was up into 4 th by turn 1 catching Chris Trounsan, Ken Onus and Riko Partoosh. The 4 riders were tightly bunched for first 3 laps, all jostling with one another trying to get the upper hand a move up a position. With barley a lap to run Ian was still in touch sitting in 4 th but 3 rd placed Riko had opened up a small gap that seemed to be a bit too much to bridge. Ken Onus had managed to take the lead from Chris and in an attempt to snatch the lead back, Chris lost the rear and crashed leaving Ken to take the win form Riko and Ian
Race 2
With his first front row start of the season, earned in race 1, Ian was looking to take charge with his usual flying starts and lead the field into turn 1. It wasn't to be, just when he needed it most his starting prowess eluded him and he got off to a shocking start. Somehow he managed to maintain 3 rd position into turn 1 and held station until the final laps when a flying Riko Partoosh got passed leaving Ian with 4 th place in a race that saw Ken take his 2 nd win for the day with Ben Scoot in 2 nd .
Race 3
Opportunity rarely beckons twice but Ian had a 2 nd chance at a front row start only to see him muff it again!! He maintained 4 th position with Riko, Ken and Ben ahead all dicing for race 3 honours. In an uncharacteristic mistake, Ken crashed out from 2 nd position sending his all new R6 skidding down the road. That left Riko out in the lead for what seemed like an inevitable win followed by Ben and Ian. With the laps winding down Ian was having to battle off challengers from behind. He was able to do so, with some swift overtaking of back markers and getting through the dust cloud left by Riko crashing out of the lead. With Riko and Ken out, Ben took the win and Ian wasn't too far behind in 2 nd .
With the points tallied up Ian had sealed 2 nd place in Supersport C Grade and also managed to pick up the best presented award with his bikes new custom design and graphics by TW-Performance, sprawled over his new fairings from Zaks.
All in all a great weekend and on Behalf of SD Racing Ian would like to that all our sponsors and awesome, top class pit crew.
