The 2006 Victorian Road Race Championships headed to Winton Motor Raceway for Round 2 of the 3 round series. SD Racing's Darren (Super Daz) Sciberras & Lisa Brothers were in action in 600 Superstock/Supersport and Formula 400 respectively. Although Darren put in a respectable performance to finish 3 rd in both Superstock and Supersport C grade, still carrying a few niggles from Eastern Creek, it was Lisa that shone with a well deserved victory in Formula 400 C grade.

Although the C grade numbers were down on round 1 and Lisa's main championship rivals were not in attendance, it really was a performance that deserved nothing less the SD Racing's first win of the season. In a dominant display Lisa took the C grade honors in qualifying and all 3 races in the action packed Formula 400 class.

But it was the way she went about it that made the result even more impressive. Other than a short but exciting dice with Brain 'Splash' Smith during race 1, Lisa rode beyond her C grade status and mixed it with the front running A and B graders, including former 4 times Australian 125 Champion Trevor Manley and a host of other very fast and seasoned racers. What Lisa was lacking in experience and racecraft she made up for it with determination. The leading pack of 6, headed by Chris Synon and Megacycle's Ken Onus, produced some exciting racing including 2 passes around the outside by Lisa in Winton's infamous left-hand sweeper. Another passing attempt left a stunned Manley having to call on his vast experience to outfox the flying female as she tried to drive around the outside of him at turn 1. Race 3 saw the two riders clash again with Manley holding on by no more than ½ a bike length but not before Lisa set the 4 th fastest time of the weekend with a 1:35.226

The weekend's results see Lisa and Darren taking home 4 trophies between them with Lisa taking an imposing lead into the last round of the series with a 28 point buffer in Formula 400 C grade. Darren sits in 2 nd for both Superstock and Supersport C grade but does trail behind Chris Trounson and Ben Scott, respectively, by margins that will be tough to close.

With Lisa in such great form it's a shame that prior commitments mean she will miss this coming weekend's Formula 400 Tri State series opener at the Stars of Tomorrow but SD Racing's Ian Wilshire will be back aboard his TW-Performance CBR600RR in the 600 class for what promises to be an exciting weekend at Phillip Island.

Till next time Keep Smiling
