Ian was able to keep himself out of trouble during the chaotic first lap of the final race and establish a safe position with a small gap in front and behind, he rolled around to a steady 7th place finish and as he greeted the chequred flag the relive was instantly obvious. On returning to the pits it looked as if Ian was a different person than the tense man that went out to battle only minutes before, you might even say he looked like an Aussie! It was a tough weekend with the lack of ultimate pace but Ian kept his head and got was he worked for all year long. A big WELL DONE!
With the TW-Performance CBR600RR now sold, Ian is still working on his 2007 plans but for now its time to savoir the championship victory.
Ian Wiltshire : " It was a hard last round and every one seemed to be in crash or win mode. This made it very difficult to stay upright and protect my lead in the series.
Thoughts of Kev Curtain, Rossi, etc., in fact anyone who crumbled at the finish line were at the front of my mind during the first part of the day.
Almost getting T-Boned in the Shield race wasn't nice either but Daz kept an eye on the points situation and I did enough to retain the series lead and take the title.
I would like to say thank you to a few people.
TW-Performance, SDRacing (Daz & Lisa), Dexam, Performance Friction, Zaks Fairings, ValterMoto, Trevor Manley, Ken Onus (Megacycle), Jo, WIZ, Goodridge & Bridgestone.
Without these people giving up there valuable time and resources, none of this would have been possible.
Guys (& Girls) the championship also belongs to you." |
